Andreas Golfinopoulos was born on 8 December 1943 in Lykoporia of Corinth, Greece.
He studied first at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1965-1970) under Nikos Nikolaou
and Yannis Moralis, and then at Middlesex University, London (1970-1973) microsculpture and ceramics.
From 1975 to 1977 he taught drawing and colour at the Athens Technological Organization - ATO of Constantinos A. Doxiadis. From 1977 to 2010 he taught colour at the Technological Educational Institute - TEI of Athens. He is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Decorative Arts, at the School of Graphic Art and Design of the aforementioned TEI. His most importany commissions to date include: “White Cypress Tree,” made of cement and white marble, 10 metres tall, at Sarandapihiotika, Corinth (1994); “Monument of Eternal Sacrifice and Love for Man,” with stone, limestone, marble and granite, 7 metres tall and 46 metres wide, at Rozena, Corinth (1998); and “Great Mermaid” with cast aluminium, 1 metre tall and 3 metres wide, for the pool of George and Dimitra Stamatakis, Athens (2010).
